Why I Started NexBDM: The Real Reason Has Nothing to Do With Business

By NexBDM Team · 2026-05-26

Most founders talk about market gaps and revenue potential. My reason for starting NexBDM is more personal and it has everything to do with time, loss, and what actually matters.

Why I Started NexBDM: The Real Reason Has Nothing to Do With Business

Most people start a business because they spotted an opportunity. A gap in the market, a skill they could monetise, a side hustle that got traction. Those are all valid reasons. They are just not mine.

Four years ago, my wife and I lost our firstborn son at birth. What followed was three years of grief, of going through the motions, of being physically present while being somewhere else entirely. I had time off during that period. I did not spend it well. I wasted it. And I only started to understand what that meant when our two-year-old arrived and I realised I still had not figured out how to actually be present.

Before starting NexBDM full time, I was running on a schedule that looked something like this: eight to ten hours focused on work, two hours with my family before bedtime, two to three hours of personal time late at night. If you do the math, family got the smallest slice. And that slice was usually the most exhausted version of me.

That is not a life. That is a schedule.

The Question That Changed Everything

I started asking myself a simple question: what is the actual cost of the way we work?

Not the financial cost. The time cost. The relationship cost. The cost of being the parent who misses the small things, the spouse who is always half-distracted, the person who forgot their own anniversary because both people in the marriage were just too busy.

We talk a lot in business circles about productivity, scaling, and growth. We talk very little about why we want those things in the first place. For most of the entrepreneurs and business owners I speak to, the answer is time. More time with their families. More time to think. More freedom to live on their own terms instead of their employer's or their inbox's terms.

The problem is that we are trying to buy back time with more work, and it is not working.

Where NexBDM Fits In

NexBDM exists to collapse the timeline between having a business idea and actually trading. When someone decides they want to start something, they typically spend months navigating business registration, legal documents, invoicing systems, banking, CRMs, website setup, and all the admin that comes before they ever serve their first client. That pre-trading period is a time and money graveyard.

I have seen founders spend R20,000 to R40,000 before signing a single client. I have seen people quit before they ever started because the setup felt too overwhelming. I have seen full-time employees grinding away at a side hustle for two to three years, sacrificing sleep and family time, before they could even consider going all in.

Through automation, AI, and properly built systems, I can get a startup ready to trade within 24 hours. Logo, name, systems, invoicing, lead capture, communication flows. Done. Not perfectly, but functionally. Enough to start, enough to test, enough to serve a first client and make the whole thing feel real.

The Bigger Goal

This is not just about speed. It is about what people do with the time they save.

If I can give an entrepreneur back four hours a week through automation and smarter systems, that is a full working day every month. Two working days. What can you do with two unexpected days? You can take your family somewhere. You can sleep. You can think. You can do the thing that reminded you why you started in the first place.

That is what NexBDM is for. Not just to build businesses faster, but to help the people behind those businesses live fuller lives.

I started this because I know what it feels like to have time and waste it. I know what it feels like to look up and realise the moments you could have had are gone. I am not interested in building a consulting business that just shifts the pressure around. I am interested in genuinely removing it.

If that resonates with you, we should talk.
